Staff Nurses in Critical Care, Band 5

Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s Critical Care department is based at St. Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey, Surrey. We are looking for band 5 Nurses to help drive through improvement, who is enthusiastic, hardworking, dedicated, a strong leader and have a passion for delivering the best care to all our patients. We are a dynamic, friendly and supportive team rising to the challenges and hard work required in achieving our Clinical Quality Indictors in today’s NHS.

The 9 bedded paperless ICU and 4 bedded HDU provides a demanding and challenging environment in which to work. We currently see around 1200 patients a year in ICU and HDU, these patients are often admitted with multi organ failure requiring ventilator support, renal support using continuous venous haemofiltration, Intra-aortic balloon pumps, cardiac output monitoring, trauma, elective surgery and other medical conditions.

The department encourages staff to develop both clinically and managerially and we provide a comprehensive induction programme, weekly multi-disciplinary teaching sessions and in-house training. Duties for this post will include clinical duties such assessing, planning, delivery and evaluation of nursing care, supporting colleagues in providing care. There is an opportunity to rotate into the Outreach team who offer a comprehensive supporting service to the hospital which is about to receive Vital Pac for recording ward patients information.

As a band 5 you will receive an in house training and development programme as well as rotating study days and a competency programme. You will be supported by our fantastic CPE and the team leader.

We are looking for a RN level 1, with a minimum of 6 months post registration experience.

Working with the multi-disciplinary team, you will need to have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to motivate and manage, adapting, driving and leading rapidly changing situations.
