Clinical Administration - Medical Secretary

Full Time - 37.5 hours per week

Salary Scale - £21,892 – £24,157 (Band 4)

Our Medical Secretaries play a vital role in supporting our doctors and nurses in the delivery of excellence care by bringing their skills and professionalism into booking appointments, speaking to patients on the telephone, typing clinical letters and scheduling operations, amongst many other essential tasks. The life of a Medical Secretary is varied, interesting and highly valued.

There will be requirement to work at opposite sites depending on service needs the post will based at our Huntingdon Officewith a presence at Royal Papworth Hospital (on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus).

The successful candidates will be joining a Trust with a focus on providing excellent patient care and experience alongside innovation and they will have an important role in supporting clinical teams to achieve these goals.

Applicants should have proven interpersonal skills, be self-motivated, have excellent organisational skills and demonstrate good time management. You should also be able to demonstrate effective communication skills at all levels and work well as part of a team. 

The main duties of the role are to include maintaining an up-to-date electronic diary and paper based databases, audio typing and taking of formal minutes of meetings using medical terminology. 

The post holder should be of RSA III and/or ECDL, or relevant equivalent experience, together with the ability to work flexibly in order to meet changing work demands of the department.  Previous NHS experience is an advantage but not essential as full training will be given on the NHS systems.
