This advert is for External Qualified AAP (Associate Ambulance Practitioner) candidates ONLY who can commence training in Newbury on 11th January 2021.

Please note these positions will be based in our NORTH stations only.

Due to the current Covid 19 situation, all our driving and lifting assessments have been cancelled until further notice. Therefore, if successfully shortlisted for this role you will only be required to complete an interview at this present time.

If so, apply to be a Qualified Associate Ambulance Practitioner with South Central Ambulance Service. You will be providing urgent, emergency and social care to patients in a pre-hospital environment. Applicants should be highly motivated individuals, with a strong desire to succeed. Applicants for these positions will be required to undergo a selection process which includes a formal interview.

All applicants must meet the entry criteria as below; however, please review the Person Specification for a more detailed criteria.

  • 5 GCSEs at Grade A to C / 9 to 4 including Maths, English and a Science subject or equivalent.
  • Level 4 Diploma for Associate Ambulance Practitioners.
  • IHCD in Ambulance Emergency Driving or FutureQuals certificate in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving.
  • A full valid manual UK driving licence and category C1 entitlement with no more than 3 points
  • Minimum 750 hours post qualification experience as a practicing AAP.

This will need to be evidenced at your assessment if you are successfully shortlisted.

Successful individuals will undertake a SCAS familiarisation course over 3 weeks.

Applicants must be engaging, caring, flexible and willing to travel as successful applicants will be expected to attend the Trust Education Centre in Newbury for 3 weeks and a 2 day driving refresher training.

There will be no provision for accommodation or travel expenses and individuals must also be willing to work at a variety of operational ambulance resource centres, covering a full range of shifts.
