An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within Pharmacy Workforce Development South (PWDS).

PWDS are expanding the team that provides training and support to pre-registration pharmacist trainees across the South West.

PWDS provide and facilitate a wide range of education and training programmes to support the pharmacy workforce across Heath Education England (HEE) South.

This post is a new position to work alongside and with our current pre-registration trainee pharmacist Training Programme Director. Together you will be responsible for the organisation of our HEE South pre-registration training programme to those trainees in the South West. This will include facilitating the three residential courses that run throughout the year, organising a series of local learning set training days for trainees in the Bristol, Gloucester and Swindon areas. These learning opportunities could be provided across virtual learning platforms or face to face.

You will also work closely with the members of the HEE South team providing the training programme for Thames Valley and Wessex areas as well as the PWDS team based in Bristol.

In August 2020 we welcomed 73 pre-registration pharmacist trainees to our SW training scheme. This includes several trainees participating in innovative programmes across pharmacy sections such as GP, community pharmacy and CCGs. You will provide pastoral support to them throughout their training year both at study days and through regular online or face to face contact. You will also provide support to the tutors across the South West ensuring they are provided with up to date information regarding pre-registration training.

There will also be opportunity for you to represent PWDS and HEE South at regional events and national meetings relating to pre-registration training.

This post will suit a pharmacist with an interest in the education and development of others, who enjoys being part of a strong team and who has the ability to manage their own time, with good organisational skills.

There will be some requirement to attend the Bristol PWDS office however remote working can also be supported.
