We are looking for an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic person to join our paediatric LTV team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) as a specialist in LTV education. This is a part time role working 18.75 hours per week. The post will be charity funded for 2 years by WellChild, the national charity for sick children. This post will require you to work in both the acute and community settings, providing education to parents, carers, health care professionals and staff in the education setting.

We have one full time vacancy for 37.5 hours per week and one part time vacancy for 18.75 hours per week.


We are a friendly regional LTV service based in a Tertiary Centre, providing all aspects of LTV care to a growing cohort of patients. We currently have approximately 200 patients on our caseload, both invasively and non-invasively ventilated. We cover the central south coast region which incorporates 6 different counties, including the Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands. The team consists of a lead consultant, clinical nurse specialist’s, a physio and a technician, with SLT, dietetic and psychology input as required.


  • You will be responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of training programmes for those caring for children requiring long term ventilation.

  • You will promote a seamless service of care and a positive patient experience by working in a variety of settings including UHS, patient’s homes, community services, schools, outpatients and regional hospitals.

  • You will collaborate with local children’s services to improve the quality of care at home and in hospital for children and their families by being an expert in the field of ventilation together with having a clear understanding about the role and function of community services.


  • Specialist clinical skills and experience within the field of paediatric long term ventilation,

  • Evidence of change management, leadership and innovation

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to manage your own workload and work autonomously

  • Experience in education and promoting effective learning
