POST:      BIOMEDICAL SCIENTIST (BAND 5)

HAEMATOLOGY/BLOOD TRANSFUSION

BASE:        AIREDALE GENERAL HOSPITAL

SALARY:      £24,907 TO £30,615  PER ANNUM (Band 5 + CPP shift allowance of approx. £8,500 per annum depending on commitment)

HOURS:     37.5 PER WEEK

Airedale NHS Foundation Trust (ANHSFT) and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (BTHFT) are both high-performing Trusts providing acute and specialist outreach services for local people.

ANHSFT and BTHFT have formed a joint venture, Integrated Pathology Solutions LLP (IPS) to provide pathology services to both organisations and other local healthcare providers. 

Applications are invited for a full time HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist with experience in both Haematology and Blood transfusion. Candidates need to possess an IBMS approved Biomedical Science degree.

Candidates will need to be enthusiastic, well-motivated and innovative, with good organisational and practical abilities supported by scientific knowledge. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to support individual and team working is essential. All of these skills and attributes are in line with the Trust’s Right Care Behaviours.

The post is based at Airedale General Hospital but requirement to work on the Bradford Hospital site may be necessary on certain occasions.  

The department is well equipped, including Sysmex XN 9000 tracked system, ACL TOP 550’s, Genexpert DX system, Alifax Test1 analysers.  The Transfusion department is fully automated with 2 OrthoVisions and electronic issue of blood products. 

The department operates a 24/7 service utilising a 37.5 hour shift system in which you will be required to fully participate.

Opportunities for further study and CPD are strongly supported and is approved for training by the IBMS.

The successful candidate will be employed directly by Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.
