Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust was formed in October 2019, following the merger of 2gether NHS Foundation Trust and Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust. The two Trusts joined together to provide integrated mental health, physical health and learning disability services to communities.


Job Title – Matron – Band 8a

Salary – £45,753 - £51,668 per annum

This is an exciting opportunity as we are looking to recruit to the Matron post for our Working Age Adult Acute Psychiatric Inpatient Hospital in Gloucestershire following the promotion of the previous post holder. Providing clinical nursing leadership and having the ability to lead by example to motivate and empower others, are a fundamental part of ensuring safe, effective, compassionate, high quality care. We are therefore seeking a clinically credible nurse leader who will be a strong clinical role model and will set and uphold high standards of patient care across all of the units.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate that caring and compassion for patients and their relatives is central to their philosophy and practice and that they want to make a fundamental difference to the way patients are cared for.

Effective leadership and communication skills should be apparent, in order to nurture and develop teams to provide the best possible care. Managerial acumen, understanding of effective utilisation of resources and influencing skills are all essential to the role.

This post requires the post holder to be able to undertake all statutory and mandatory training and post holders must be able to undertake physical interventions. Fitness for physical intervention will be assessed by Occupational Health.
