Microbiology Associate Practitioner (Agenda for Change Band 4) (Full-time Permanent Contract)

We are delighted to be able to recruit to an Associate Practitioner position to work within the Clinical Microbiology department of the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust.

The Clinical Microbiology Department at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust is part of the Pathology service providing a diagnostic Microbiology service to the Trust and community. This forward thinking hospital is situated on the edge of Dartmoor in the city of Exeter with easy access to the M5 corridor and excellent transport links to the open countryside and Devon coastline. There is an on-site restaurant, crèche facilities and a choice of coffee/tea outlets. The laboratory has its own rest areas within the department.

As the complexity of our workload expands we are now seeking an enthusiastic Associate Practitioner with good interpersonal skills and a high degree of self-motivation to join the team. As part of the team you will be working in a busy high throughput environment, Your role will be to assist our Biomedical Scientists within the laboratory, duties will include support staff training and supervision, equipment and stock management and undertaking laboratory testing. This position will be predominantly based in the molecular department, overseeing the covid-19 testing in conjunction with all other molecular tests e.g. CT/GC, viral loads and infection control markers.

A post is available working a 37.5 hours per week, with core hours from 09:00 -17:30 Monday to Friday. Working on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays, on a rotational basis, is also required for this post. This post will also require participation in the covid-19 shift system (07:00 - 00:00), with a future requirement to participate in a shift system which aims to deliver a 24/7 service.

Salary: Agenda for Change Band 4 (£21,892 - £24,157 pro rata). Time worked on a Saturday accrues a pay enhancement of 30% and time worked on a Sunday or Bank Holiday accrues an enhancement of 60%.
