We are located in a bespoke, purpose-built hospital on the world-class Cambridge Biomedical Campus, with administrative services based in Huntingdon.

In October 2019, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) announced the hospital was ‘outstanding’ overall and across all five of the CQC domains; safe, caring, effective, responsive, and well-led - this is the first time an NHS hospital trust has achieved an ‘outstanding’ rating across the five key questions.



Royal Papworth Hospital is the Regional centre for cardiothoracic services and has a reputation for innovation and research. Specialist services include pulmonary hypertension, transplantation, cystic fibrosis, interstitial lung disease, thoracic oncology and cardiothoracic surgery. The radiology department is very well equipped with a new investigation facility housing state of the art equipment including a dual source CT scanners and 1.5/3.0T MRIs for cardiac work. The posts will provide excellent experience in all aspects of cardiac and thoracic radiology. There are opportunities for research.

Radiology Cardiothoracic Fellowship/StR Post

The post is available for a period of 12 months commencing in August or September 2021. Consideration will also be given to candidates wishing to apply for Summer 2022

The post is suitable for trainees who hold a current NTN. Those who are interested without an NTN or who are post CCT could be appointed as a LAS or Trust Clinical Fellow. Specialist Registrars currently enrolled in a UK training programme (other than the East of England Deanery), who wish to retain their National Training Number (NTN) whilst at Papworth, should discuss ‘out-of-programme-training’ (OOPT) with their Training Programme Director.
