Maternity Cover - Fixed Term until 21st June 2021.

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and dedicated individual to provide an effective and efficient secretarial service to the Upper GI (Oesophagogastric) Surgery department. This is a part time post of 22.5 hours per week.

You will be working in the Surgery division of the Trust, specifically providing maternity cover secretarial support for the Upper GI clinical teams. The GI Surgery department is often busy and fast-paced, so the ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a sometimes demanding role alongside a supportive team.

The department is looking for an individual who is a proven team player and can effectively interact with multidisciplinary teams of admin and clinical staff. The postholder will have a previous NHS secretarial/PA experience, however other settings may be considered. Previous experience using Big Hand transcript would be desirable but not essential.

Applicants must have good organisational and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well under pressure. As the posts deal with patients, relatives and healthcare professionals on the phone, and occasionally face to face, applicants must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The postholder will be expected to have a courteous and efficient telephone manner. Applicants will need to have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including; Excel & Outlook.

We would welcome applications from those who meet all of the essential criteria as set out in the person specification. This includes having a qualification in word processing or audio typist (or equivalent experience), educated to GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths, and Business and Administration Level 3 NVQ or equivalent experience.

The appointed post holder will work with a variety of teams and individuals, with no two days the same. They will also be provided with adequate training and opportunities for future development. The days worked can be discussed and agreed upon job offer.
