East Midland Congenital Heart Center

Cardiac Investigations – Band 7 highly specialised in Catheter and Rhythm management

Job Share and Part Time hours will be considered

This is an exciting opportunity to join the renowned East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre (EMCHC) during a time of reconfiguration and expansion. EMCHC is a level 1 Tertiary Cardiac Heart Disease Centre, commissioned by NHS England. We are proud to deliver a range of ground breaking procedures within our specialised commissioning services. Our service was rated Outstanding in the last CQC Visit.

UHL have received government funding to invest in creating stand alone Women’s & Children’s Hospitals at the Leicester Royal Infirmary site. The first part of this is to move the EMCHC service from the current Glenfield Hospital site, to a purpose built, state of the art facility, which will form part of the building blocks of the Children’s Hospital. This will include a brand new echo and pacing suite, theatres and catheter lab with the most up to date equipment, and a new outpatients departments. We are therefore also looking to invest in our staff to ensure that we continue to provide an outstanding service to our patients from Leicester and also surrounding counties.

The successful candidate will have BHRS accreditation or IBHRE/NASPE exam and a minimum of three years post BSc (or equivalent) qualification experience. The post will involve rotating through the cardiology devices clinic and Catheter Lab and the post holder will manage a caseload and assist in the development of all areas of the cardiac rhythm management service for the congenital service.

Ideally the preferred candidate will have experience of congenital pathologies although consideration will be given to applicants with little or no congenital experience as training can be given in this area. Experience of working in a catheter lab for at least two years is essential as this post will be to lead the cardiac physiology team within the catheter lab and pacing clinic.

The department runs a 24/7 on call service for cath lab and devices, so participation on the on call rota is a key requirement of this role.

We are looking for someone who is both inspirational and motivational and who can contribute to the education, training and development of junior members of staff. We aim to grow an excellent team of Cardiac Physiologists who can lead and create innovation within the service to ensure that we remain the trailblazers in our specialty area.

Leicester is a multi-cultural City which has robust transport links to all parts of the country. It has a lively city centre with restaurants, bars and shopping. If you are considering a re-location we are able to support you in your move.
