Brief Description of the Role:


We have a vision to promote a healthier, fairer future for children living in deprived areas through a focus on improving environments that can influence health and life chances.


Making this vision real requires substantial and sustainable changes to the broader early life environments that have a lifelong influence on our health. With the award of major new grants from the EU Horizon 2020, NIHR Public Health Research programme, and MRC, we will be developing and evaluating city-wide and community interventions to improve local environments and health with a particular focus on air quality and the built environment.


We are looking for someone who shares our exciting vision to join us in creating a ground-breaking research programme that will shape the lives of future generations.

We are looking for an organised, motivated and enthusiastic senior research fellow with intervention development, mixed methods or qualitative research experience to manage two key projects within our BiB ‘healthy places’ research portfolio; projects include working with communities to develop and evaluate interventions to reduce exposure to the urban exposome, including air pollution. This work will involve mixed-methods research to identify i) patterns of exposure amongst school-age children and members of the general public, ii) working with schools to co-produce and evaluate interventions which will reduce exposure, and iii) working with policy and decision makers to identify how interventions to improve urban and chemical exposomes can be more effectively implemented.

The post will be based within the Born in Bradford team and based at the Bradford Institute for Health Research, but will work with an international research team to meet the projects’ aims and objectives.
