Brooker ward is an Older persons Mental Health inpatient unit that provides treatment and care for people who have severe mental illness and is based in the tranquil setting of St James Hospital in Portsmouth. Brooker consists of 8 Functional Mental Health beds and 14 Organic mental Health beds.

We have an exciting new vacancy for a Ward Manager to join our leadership team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and resilient candidate who is experienced in engaging and supporting both those who use our service and those who provide it, whilst upholding and improving existing standards of care.

This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse leader to broaden their clinical and operational leadership skills within our busy inpatient service. The successful candidate will have ward management responsibility for Brooker Ward and will have experience of working in and leading acute mental health inpatient services.

The successful candidate will also work closely with the ward managers at the Orchards (Adult Mental Health inpatient unit), the Modern Matron for the Orchards and the Limes, and leaders in the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team and Community Mental Health teams to ensure that the service provides safe and effective care, treatment and follow-up support for our patients and their loved ones.
