An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Epilepsy Specialist Nurse to join our developing epilepsy service. Induction, training and support will be provided depending on experience. It is an expectation of the role that the successful applicant would be a non-medical prescriber or willing to undertake the academic course. The successful applicant will be supported through clinical supervision and training to develop further knowledge and skills to support people who have epilepsy. This is a development role at Band 6 working towards a Band 7 once essential competence has been achieved.

The post-holder will work closely with patients, carers, neurologists, hospital staff, GP’s and other stakeholders to provide responsive and supportive service to those with a diagnosis of epilepsy. The role will include medical and nurse led clinics, telephone support, and ward referrals. The successful applicant will be involved in the development of specialist care plans and training in order to optimise health outcomes, reduce hospital admissions and improve quality of life of the individuals you support. They will be expected to work autonomously in the role with regular support and supervision from the Epilepsy CNS.

The successful applicant should be a Registered Nurse (RN, RNLD, RMN) with experience of working with people with epilepsy They will have excellent communication skills, and will be able to work collaboratively with all members of the team.
