If your answer is yes, then we have a vacancy within Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) for an Advanced Practitioner Podiatrist to work 21.5 hours per week with the Regional Rehabilitation Unit (RRU) in delivering a high standard outreach, regional based podiatry service to Armed Forces personnel.

The successful candidate will be an essential member of the multi-disciplinary team located in Merville Barracks, Colchester. You will perform highly skilled and specialist podiatry assessment and treatment to patients referred to the RRU; using clinical reasoning skills to provide accurate clinical diagnosis.

 

Duties of the role include but aren’t limited to:

  • Planning & Implementing the development of the podiatry service to meet demand.
  • Evaluating the current need of podiatry service and contracts within the Region.
  • Providing specialist podiatry advice/support to the RRU.
  • Completing reports on findings.
  • Providing support and input into the RRU in-service training programme as directed by the Regional Rehabilitation Officer.
  • Formulating and developing a highly specialised individualised treatment programme based upon evidence-based practice.
  • Having effective communication with all other rehabilitation and Unit personnel, with external medical personnel from other agencies/Units.
  • To manage and prioritise own clinical caseload efficiently and effectively.

 

To be found successful for this post you must hold a degree in podiatry plus postgraduate specialist training to Masters Level or equivalent in clinical biomechanics. You must be a Member of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists and/or State Registered Podiatrist (HCPC).

This is a peripatetic role and the successful candidate will be required to travel to facilities within their Area of Responsibility therefore a full UK driving licence will be required.

There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel, but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.

Please be aware that if you are found successful you will be asked to provide evidence of your immunity to Hepatitis B.

Once travel restrictions are lifted the successful candidate will be required to undertake a two-day induction course to be held at DMS Whittington, Lichfield, Staffordshire, WS14 9PY.

Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is security check.
