LAS F2 in Emergency Medicine for 6 Months

Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust invites applications a LAS Doctor in Emergency Medicine.

There is a formal one day of trust induction and two days of Emergency Medicine induction provided by the ED consultants and ST4/5/6. Shop-floor teaching and supervision is provided by the ED consultants who are present in the department seven days a week from 08:30 until midnight. All Junior staff will be allocated an Educational and Clinical supervisor on taking up the post and will agree Educational aims for the 6 month period. Regular appraisals will take place to ensure satisfactory progress. Study leave will normally be granted where it is consistent with the Educational goals.

You will be joining a team of 9EM Consultants, 2 ST 4/5/6, 4 GPVTS’s, 6 FY2s, 1 ACCS and an established ENP service. The ED currently sees over 50,000 new patients per year and is a designated trauma unit. Salisbury Trust also has all the major specialties found in a DGH with the addition of being the tertiary referral centre for Plastic Surgery/Burns and Spinal Injury. The ED has recently undergone a complete refurbishment and now has a modern, well-equipped 3 bedded Resus, 10 bedded Majors, 6 Minors cubicles, a separate Paediatric area and an 8 bedded Short Stay Emergency Unit (SSEU) under the management of the ED.

Applicants must have full GMC registration and experience in at least one F2 level post within the UK or equivalent healthcare system. Previous emergency medicine experience would be regarded favourably and should be highlighted. All applicants must be able to recognise and manage serious acute illness, work in a multi-disciplinary team and communicate effectively with all staff including specialist teams and ED seniors. Applicants should demonstrate IT literacy and knowledge of audit principles
