We are one of the largest specialist mental health and learning disabilities trusts in the country, with an annual income of £320m and a workforce of some 6,700 staff operating from around 100 sites in Durham, Teesside, North Yorkshire and York and Selby. We provide a range inpatient and community services to 2m people living in County Durham, the Tees Valley, Scarborough, Whitby, Ryedale, Harrogate, Hambleton and Richmondshire. We also provide additional specialist services to other parts of Northern England.

We deliver our services by working in partnership with eight local authorities and clinical commissioning groups, a wide range of voluntary organisations, as well as service users, their carers and the public. The services are spread over a wide geographical area of around 3,600 square miles, which includes coastal, rural and industrial areas.

Our clinical pharmacy and medicines supply services extend across the whole Trust, with three locality teams based in Durham & Darlington (Lanchester Road Hospital/West Park Hospital), York (Foss Park Hospital) and Middlesbrough (Roseberry Park Hospital) all accommodated in new hospital facilities. We deliver services to working-age adults, the elderly, children and young people, and those with learning disabilities, including patients in secure units; both inpatients and increasingly in the community.

We have an exciting opportunity for a GPhC registered pharmacist to join our team based at Roseberry Park Hospital in Middlesbrough, providing services across the Tees locality. The successful candidate will have the enthusiasm, confidence and drive to make a real difference to the lives of patients with mental illness. Previous mental health experience is not essential, but previous experience of providing clinical pharmacy services in a secondary care setting, including patient counselling and screening/checking of prescription charts is desirable. You should have sound clinical knowledge and be able to demonstrate an understanding of medicines used for mental health conditions. Excellent communication skills are essential.

We pride ourselves on the provision of a patient focused clinical service, supported by the whole pharmacy team, to ensure medicines optimisation across the range of specialties. We are committed to developing our staff and there will be an opportunity to undertake the Post Graduate Certificate in Psychiatric Therapeutics as well as the Independent Prescribing certificate. The Trust is committed to Quality Improvement Systems and there will be opportunities to develop your skills using these tools.
