Our Knowsley Community Therapy Team, are seeking a committed Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our service, supporting the patients through shared care within Knowsley.

The post is fixed term until March 2021.

The reason this post is fixed term is due to a temporary response to service needs which are temporarily over and above the service’s permanent establishment.


The team consists of Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, Assistant Practitioners and Therapy Assistants. The service responds to the rehabilitation needs of adults 18+, who have multiple complex co-morbidities or support with discharge from the hospital setting. We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate experience within the Physiotherapy role, who has the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team. You will require sound decision making skills and effective clinical reasoning to provide input to those with long term conditions, palliative patients, musculoskeletal problems (unable to access a clinic), orthopaedic and other neurological disorders.

The Community Therapy Team also provides Physiotherapy intervention to other teams within The North West Borough healthcare portfolio, including the Frailty service, the Falls team, Later life and Memory services and the Adult mental health wards. More recently the team has adapted to support hospital discharges during the pandemic, an area continuing to be supported through recruitment into this post.

The Frailty service operates 7 days a week while the remainder of the services operate Monday to Friday. All staff are expected to participate in the Frailty Service working alongside Advanced clinicians to cover weekends on a rota.

The successful candidate should be able to work creatively to develop the role and link with senior members of the team on service development. They will be required to demonstrate excellent assessment and interpersonal skills supporting the patients through shared decision making, to make choices about their treatment and conditions.

IMPORTANT: The role will involve regular travel across multiple sites in the North West Boroughs Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust catchment area. Therefore, the post holder must be able to meet the travel requirements of this post. Please indicate on your application how you meet this requirement.

This post is subject to an enhanced check with adult’s barred list Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check. Successful candidates will either have a valid DBS check with the Trust or will be required to pay for the cost of the DBS Disclosure which is £47.50, the cost of which will be deducted from first salary.
