Locum Consultant Radiologist

Warrington & Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to offer outstanding opportunities for 1 full-time Locum Consultant Radiologist with a specialist interest in GI Imaging (less than full time contract would be considered).

The Trust wishes to appoint 1 full-time Locum Consultant Radiologist with experience and interest in GI imaging to join the team of 16 Consultant Radiologists. The work will comprise of mainly general, cross-sectional reporting. There is scope for joining a team of GI Radiologists contributing to the colorectal, IBD and upper GI MDTs, supporting development of GI cancer pathways as well as scope for performing various non-vascular intervention procedures including biopsies and drainages.

A full range of radiological services are available at WHHFT including Interventional Radiology, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, CT/MR, DEXA, Cardiac Catheter Suite and Breast services.

There are 3 multi-slice CT Scanners, 2 MRI Scanners , a gamma/SPECT camera and a comprehensive multi-site ultrasound and plain radiography service. You will also add a contribution to general radiology and be part of a 1:15 on-call rota at Warrington Hospital. WHH is part of the Cheshire and Merseyside Radiology Network, with Carestream PACS and RIS systems installed. The collaboration enables the of hours imaging and reporting to be supported by the on call hub, staffed by the trainees in the region. There may be also opportunities for home reporting.

The Trust is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in association with the University of Liverpool and up to 6 Specialist trainees are attached to the department at a time. The Trust comprises three hospitals, Warrington (acute), Halton (non-acute) and the Cheshire and Mersey Treatment Centre (non-acute orthopaedic and imaging unit).

Warrington is located in a desirable part of Cheshire in the North West of England, equidistant from the vibrant cities of Manchester and Liverpool. These afford a variety of recreational, cultural, entertainment, retail and sporting/leisure opportunities to suit most interests. Beautiful countryside is easily accessible in the Lake District, Peak District and North Wales. Transport links are excellent with easy access to the M6, M56 and M62 motorways and the national rail network. Manchester and Liverpool international airports are nearby (30 minutes drive).

A charge of £60 (Enhanced) will be made by the successful candidate which will be deducted from the first 3 months’ salary. In addition to this, you will also be required to re-pay any future costs that may arise in relation to DBS fees.
