We are a busy doctor’s Surgery in the heart of Upminster. We are looking for Part-time Admin Assistant with some previous experience working in General Practice. It’s a challenging role, but nonetheless rewarding, providing essential healthcare services to the local community.

Upminster Medical Centre is an expanding practice serving approximately 4,200+ patients in Havering with 2 GP Partners, 1 Long Term Sessional GP, 2 part-time Practice Nurses, 1 Business/Practice Manager, 1 Practice Manager and a friendly admin team. Practice is located in Upminster Town Centre less than 10 minutes’ walk from Upminster underground and railway station.

We are looking for a dedicated Admin Assistant to join our team who can contribute to the success of our high QOF achieving practice and overall performance targets with excellent patient satisfaction scores.

The ideal candidate should have excellent organisational and time management skills. Attention to detail and ability to work in a team are also important, whilst maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

GP Practice knowledge is desirable.

We use EMIS Web clinical system.

Hours per week: Temporary with a view to Permanent

  • 15 – 20 hours per week

Key duties: (please see Job Description)

These are some of the key duties among others.

  • Summarising medical records
  • Creating and using EMIS searches, protocols & alerts
  • To set up and maintain appointment diary for GPs, Nurses and Clinical Admin sessions on EMIS Web
  • To assist in referring patients via NHS e-Referral Service
  • Processing Weekly Data upload to Eclipse (Apollo)
  • Updating and importing various templates and letters into EMIS Web
  • To assist in annual QOF review process
  • Liaising with doctors, managers and other admin staff

  • Ability to prioritise tasks
  • IT skills including EMIS Web
  • Knowledge of local area beneficial

Please Note:

  • You would, at times be expected to provide cover for other staff members on annual leave, on different days and shifts other than your own, as they would in turn provide cover for your leave. Please note we cannot provide permanent posts for staff who would be unable to provide cover for their colleagues.
