Are you a registered Pharmacy Technician with a passion for developing and delivering high quality, patient focused and safety orientated Clinical Pharmacy Services?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced medicines management pharmacy technician to join and lead our dynamic clinical pharmacy team. The post holder will manage and support a large team of ward based technicians to deliver operational and clinical pharmacy services to the patients and staff at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

They will also supervise and co-ordinate training for all pharmacy technicians working towards various medicines management qualifications and be a key member of the pharmacy senior management team. The post holder will also have a key role to play as the Trust embarks on a programme that will see electronic prescribing integrated with patient flow, automated ward stock management systems, and the pharmacy patient medication record system.

Applicants must be a Pharmacy Technician, registered with GPhC, and hold an accreditation in Medicines Management which meets the standards of the National Medicines Management Framework, and have at least two years experience working in a qualified role. The suitable candidate will need to have experience of directing, developing and delivering ward-based Clinical Pharmacy services in a large hospital trust with the proven ability to perform as a team leader.

With over 1000 in-patient beds and covering diverse and comprehensive clinical specialities this is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to help shape the future of Clinical Pharmacy services to those specialities which include; cardiology, cardiothoracics, neurology (including acute stroke services), neurosurgery, surgery (general surgery, bariatric surgery, urology and gynaecology), trauma and orthopaedics, spinal rehabilitation, paediatric medicine and surgery, reproductive medicine, renal, gastroenterology, respiratory and endocrine medicine, and acute admissions units.

The successful candidates will work full time hours 8.30am-5pm Monday – Friday. They will also be included in dispensary and extended/out-of-hours rotas, which are currently:

  • Weekend working once every 5 weeks (9am-5pm Saturday and Sunday, reimbursed with a full weekday off the following week)
  • Late night working once every 2 weeks (hours 9am-5.30pm instead of 8.30am-5pm)
  • Contribution to bank holiday working rota
  • Average of 2 x 2 hour accuracy checking slots per week.
