Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides integrated acute and community Healthcare in the West Midlands serving a population of 260,000 residents. Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading. Construction of the new integrated critical care unit was completed in 2018, extension of a Neonatal Unit and an approved plan to build a brand new, state of the art Emergency Department which will commence in 2021

CARDIOLOIGST LOCUM DOCTOR (ST Higher)

Would you like to be part of a dynamic, friendly and progressive cardiology team? Then look no further! As a department at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust we are looking to employ a full time Locum ST (Higher) Doctor to cover sickness within the department. The post will initially be for 3 months with a view of extension.

This post will offer a unique opportunity in terms of speciality interests and service development. The post is based on 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week. Additional Programmed Activities may be available subject to service needs, e.g. participation on the on-call rota, programmed activities within tertiary centre.

The successful candidate will work within the cardiology department with 5 Consultants, Cardiac Specialist Support Team and Primary Care Professionals to provide quality services for people with cardiac diseases

Essential criteria

  • Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice
  • A minimum of 4 years full time postgraduate training and experience (or equivalent EEA training) of which at least two years will be in GIM/Cardiology as SHO/ST1-2 or Registrar level
  • Ability to demonstrate relevant experience and qualifications to undertake middle grade 2 duties including 2nd on-call duties
  • Ability to undertake a range of emergency medical procedures procedure

Recent MRCP part 1 or equivalent by examination will be desirable
