We are seeking highly motivated trained registered nurses to join our team in Cardiothoracic Critical Care and the High Dependency Unit. Critical care experience is desirable but not essential. The vacancies are within our Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and High Dependency Unit with an opportunity to rotate between the units for staff development and experience.

Torrington CICU has 10 critical care beds, and HDU has 6 high dependency beds. You will be looking after patients with a wide variety post-operative cardio-thoracic and vascular surgical conditions requiring high levels of intervention and support.

We are interested in nurses who are committed to delivering a high standard of patient care and have a genuine interest in cardiac critical care. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. A flexible approach and the ability to respond appropriately to the demands of a rapidly changing environment are also essential.

In return we can offer you a structured orientation programme with the support of our dedicated Clinical Facilitation Team. You will receive a 6/7 week supernumerary period to enable you to gain the skills and competence required to care for critically ill patients from a variety of specialties with an opportunity in time to enrol on the: Health and Human Sciences course with Plymouth University:


HEAC 327P Applied Physiology in Critical Illness.

HCAC 329P Core Concepts in Critical Care

HEAC 328P Advanced Concepts in Critical Care.

Plus advanced Cardiothoracic Course available.
