There is an opportunity for a Information Security Specialist to join Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust’s Digital Services team. Reporting to the Information Assurance and Security Manager, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Cyber Security solutions, as well as resolving security related support incidents.

You will be qualified to Degree Level in a technical IT subject or be able to demonstrate a broad range of equivalent experience in supporting corporate IT systems, and resolving Cyber Security incidents, in an Active Directory and TCP/IP environment. Degree modules in Cyber Security and/or current Cyber Security qualifications would be advantageous.

The post holder will be conversant with current and upcoming IT Security legislation, and have a working knowledge of the principles of cyber threat identification and mitigation. Practically, you must be able to manage your own workload, including regular daily tasks and emergent incidents, within governing project plans.

As an Information Security Specialist you will provide a range of customer-focused support services to colleagues and end users. These will include problem solving, administrative tasks – such as record keeping and documentation - and incident resolution, to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information, and compliance with GDPR, Cyber Essentials, NHS DSPT, etc.

There will be regular liaison with first, second and third line service delivery teams and third-party suppliers. A good knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office suites is essential alongside excellent communication and customer service skills.

The post will be based at Cobalt Business Exchange, North Shields, though duties will involve providing support to the customer base Trustwide and participation in the on-call rota and there may be a requirement to work from home during the COVID19 situation.

Essential criteria -

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Networks, Computer Forensics,
    Engineering or related subject or equivalent work experience
  • Experience of configuration, deployment and support of corporate IT systems.
  • Experience of working with Active Directory and TCP/IP networking as they relate to
    network authentication and delivery of secure services.
  • Experience of troubleshooting hardware and software issues, including IOS and Windows products.
  • Experience of broad range of IM&T areas acquired through relevant experience
  • Experience of investigating and resolving cyber security incidents
