Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is the UK’s leading heart and lung hospital, treating around 50,000 patients each year. We are located in a new, purpose-built hospital on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, with administrative services based in Huntingdon.

Since carrying out the UK’s first successful heart transplant in 1979, the hospital now performs more heart, heart-lung and lung transplants each year than any other UK centre.

In addition to transplantation, Royal Papworth Hospital has the UK’s largest Respiratory Support and Sleep Centre (RSSC) and is one of five UK centres providing Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) to patients experiencing severe respiratory failure. It is also the only centre in the UK for a number of specialist services including Pulmonary Endarterectomy and Balloon Pulmonary Angioplasty (BPA).

Band 2 Research Support Technician

22.5hrs per week

£18,005 - £19,337

Royal Papworth Hospital is an internationally renowned centre offering specialist care for patients with cardio-respiratory conditions.

The Research and Development Department is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to provide administrative and laboratory support for the studies undertaken by Papworth’s Research Tissue Bank. By working closely with the Tissue Bank this post will provide laboratory support and a Trust wide service including sample processing, packing and transportation around the Cambridge Biomedical Campus site.

Successful candidates for this post will have a positive attitude, be keen to learn, be able to take instructions, have a flexible and efficient approach to their work and have an interest in healthcare or research. They will be a confident communicator, and have a thorough eye for detail, work well to deadlines, understand the need for confidentiality and be able work independently as well as part of the Tissue Bank and wider R&D team.
