Clinical pharmacist in General Practice

Job title: Network pharmacist

Salary: £38,890 - £51,668 dependent on experience (pro rata)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Days: Monday to Friday

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Pharmacist to join Central Liverpool PCN's expanding pharmacy team and to work with the member practices which includes the Kensington, Marybone, Princess Park, Vauxhall, Abercrombie, St James, Dingle Park and The Elms. We wish to expand our pharmacy team to deliver high quality pharmacy services across our network.

As part of our team of 5 clinical pharmacists you will provide expertise in medication reviews, support patients to manage long-term conditions through medicines optimisation and improve patient care by increasing communication between general practice, community and hospital pharmacy. You will promote high quality, safe and cost effective prescribing as informed by evidence based practice and national and local guidance.

The role will focus on improving repeat prescribing and increasing uptake of electronic repeat dispensing, providing medication advice to patients and prescribers alike, and conducting medication reviews across a wide variety of patients.The role will also require the initiation and completion of medication and prescribing audits with presentation at practice MDT meetings.

We are looking for candidates with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, who are also able to demonstrate strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands.

Personal and professional development is supported for all members of the team and the successful candidates will also be expected to develop project work and contribute to the learning and development of the whole team as appropriate.

You should be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) with a Master’s degree in pharmacy (MPharm) (or equivalent). A qualification in independent prescribing is desirable although not essential as training can be provided. The position attracts a competitive salary and access to the NHS pension scheme

The successful candidate will ideally be an independent prescriber and experience of a clinical pharmacist role in a primary care setting would be desirable although not essential.
