We provide out of hours (OOH) primary care and Extended Access appointments to the population of Cumbria (500,000 people over a land mass of 2,613 square miles), working out of 12 clinical sites. Our core bases are:

Bank Mental Nurse – CHoC Capital Building, Hilltop Heights, Carlisle

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mental Health Nurse to support the CHoC out of hours team. The role will involve practising autonomously to offer comprehensive telephone triage assessment, consultation and management of patients and / or their carers / relatives. The Mental Health Nurse will support and advise CHoC clinicians across all locations.

The role involves working as part of the out of hours team which includes Nurse Practitioners, Primary Care treatment centre nurses and GPs alongside CHoC Control Staff and other clinical triage staff based within the CHoC main office Hilltop Heights, Carlisle.

We offer continuous development for all of our staff, as well as regular supervision, to ensure you achieve your personal goals and assist you in personal and professional development. Regular support from your line manager is also provided to ensure you have the opportunity to develop your skills further.

As a bank position there are no fixed hours associated with this role, shifts will be ad hoc to provide additional cover as required by the organisation. The mental health nurse role currently covers 8 hour shifts (12-8pm) primarily across the weekend and on bank holidays.

Due to the requirements of the role, a minimum of 5 years post registration experience is necessary including recent telephone triage experience and experience of working with acute mental ill health in a variety of settings.
