An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 to join The Children’s Assessment Unit at University Hospitals Plymouth Trust.

The Children’s assessment unit sees approx. 9000 children a year,  ranging from 0-16 years, covering a range of specialities.

The Assessment unit works closely with the paediatric wards, the Children’s high Dependency Unit and the Paediatric Emergency department.

 

The successful candidate must have proven post qualification demonstrable experience. Proven knowledge of working in an acute paediatric setting with good assessment skills and communication skills is essential. Proven evidence of management and leadership skills are vital. A good understanding of safeguarding would be advantageous.

 

The successful candidate will need to have a positive and innovative approach to caring for children. They should be able to work both autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. They will need a clear vision and direction for children’s services taking opportunities to be a representative of Children’s needs. Family centred care is promoted and encouraged across the floor.

 

We offer a very supportive learning environment with a clinical educator available throughout the week to work alongside staff offering to support professional learning and development. We also have an excellent training programme that ensures staff are kept up to date with mandatory training and clinical skills.
