Would you like to join a fantastic team of nurses working on the Critical care unit at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth. If you are caring, passionate, enthusiasticandmotivated, then we may have the position for you on our Unit.


Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work as part of a dynamic, supportive and friendly team. You will have the opportunity to care for a wide range of patients requiring multi-system support including ventilation, MultiCitrate Filters, IABPs. We also admit major trauma patients and complex elective surgery. The role is challenging and exciting and will suit anyone eager to enhance their nursing proven knowledge and skills in a Critical Care setting.

All successful candidates will benefit from an orientation and induction programme run by our established Education team which consists of bedside facilitators supported by our Band 7 Critical Care Educator. Staff follow an education pathway, which is competency based (using the Critical Care National Competency Framework). There will also be an opportunity to undertake a 60 credit Critical Care course in conjunction with the University of Plymouth covering Applied Physiology in Critical Illness, Core and Advanced concepts in Critical Care.


Demonstrable experience in acute care is desirable; however we also invite applications from nurses without prior experience who are committed and motivated to develop a career within Critical care.
