The Integrated Children with Additional Needs (ICAN)–service are seeking to appoint an experienced, highly motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse with community nursing experience, to join our existing nursing team. This is an exciting time for ICAN as we continue to develop a seamless service for children and young people with additional needs and their families. We are proud of all we achieve in the ICAN service and in order to fulfil our vision we are recruiting a full-time band 6 ICAN Community Nurse (suitable for a Registered Nurse with Family Nursing, Health visiting, School Nursing or Pediatric Nurse background).

We are looking for a dynamic, passionate nurse with experience of caseload management including safeguarding and multi-disciplinary working with excellent communication skills, leadership and organisational skills and the ability to motivate and support others through change. Key responsibilities include working with children and their families who attend our Community Paediatric Clinics – supporting care delivery and nursing interventions for those children and their families. You will work within our nursing intervention clinical pathways including sleep, behaviour, continence and autism with a commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for children with additional needs, including those with neuro-disability. There is an expectation that you will contribute to the co-ordination and support of the children’s strategy locally in order to develop co-ordinated pathways with other health and social care partners.

For all new starters to the Trust we have a structured Introduction programme to prepare you for working at LCH and within ICAN.

The position will be primarily based at one of three child development teams across the city, located in the West at Wortley Beck Health Centre, East at Reginald Centre or South at St George's Centre. Whilst you will be based at one centre predominantly, you will be required on occasions to cover across the city.

Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.




If you are successful in being offered a position which involves working with patients, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The level of check required is dependent upon the position that you have applied for. The Trust will administer the DBS check on your behalf and will recover the cost from your salary. There will be no charge if you are enrolled in the DBS Update Service.
