Children's Nurse - Ward 30

Job Reference: 358-2534143-CHI

University Hospitals of Leicester
Ward 30
Glenfield Hospital, Leicester
£24,907 - £30,615

Proudly Providing Children’s Heart Services

Exciting opportunities have arisen for dynamic and motivated Children’s Nurses to work within our expanding team of Nursing, Medical and other Health Care Professionals of the East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre.

Ward 30 provides care for children born with congenital heart defects within the East Midlands and nationwide who require surgical management of cardiac conditions, ranging in age from new born through to 17 years. Our clinical management includes pre-operative and post-operative care as well as input at different stages of their childhood and adolescent years.

You would be joining a dynamic and cohesive team with a breadth of cardiac knowledge who are adaptive and forward thinking. We are a fast paced ward and pride ourselves in delivering high quality care and are therefore looking for someone who is hardworking and motivated.

We are a team who work closely within our MDT, working alongside our Outpatient Department, our Paediatric Intensive Care Unit and our Cardiac Liaison and Specialist Nurses. We deliver holistic care together with our Cardiology Consultants and Registrars, Occupational and Physio therapists, a dedicated Play Specialist team and the newly established Nursing Associate role.

You would be working in a team that is dedicated to the development of your cardiac specific clinical skills with a robust training and competency programme to facilitate your progression and growth. Furthermore, you would receive regular teaching on specific cardiac defects and their management.

In September 2019 we received the exciting news that we had funding agreed to create a standalone Children’s Hospital at the Leicester Royal Infirmary. The first phase of our reconfiguration will see our Paediatric Congenital Cardiac Centre and ECMO service at Glenfield Hospital re-locate to new facilities at the Leicester Royal Infirmary in April 2021. We will then progress with creating a new age appropriate environment for all children bringing together all acute paediatric services into one defined area of the Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI) to create a fully integrated children’s hospital to serve the population of Leicester, Leicestershire, Rutland, the East Midlands and beyond.

Applicants can be experienced or newly qualified Children’s Nurses.
