An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, highly motivated communications
professional to work for and help shape Food Sense Wales. Food Sense Wales is a charitable fund influencing how food is produced and consumed in Wales to ensure everyone has access to healthy and sustainable food. It is hosted within the Cardiff and Vale Public Health team and the Cardiff and Vale Health Charity.
Food Sense Wales is a small and highly motivated team advocating for a sustainable food andfarming system through delivery of a number of programmes (many as part of UK partnerships) across Wales. These include Food for Life Get Togethers, Peas Please, Sustainable Food Places and Food Power.
The Food Sense Wales Communication and Engagement Manager will be responsible for developing and delivering a dynamic communication and engagement plan across the Food Sense Wales portfolio to raise our profile and the issues relating to healthy and sustainable food and farming. Key to this role is ensuring that citizen engagement and voice is central to our development of tools, strategies and policy responses.
The post holder will have particular responsibility for overseeing the Wales element of the National Lottery funded programme, Peas Please. This will include the development of a community of best practice within the UK Peas Please pledger community and the management of Peas Please communications, pledgers and relationships in Wales as part of the UK Peas Please team led by Food Foundation.
As an experienced communications professional you’ll bring knowledge of a wide range ofcommunication techniques in varied and challenging roles. With specific skills in social media, project management and stakeholder engagement, your experience should also include influencing and driving change and promoting Welsh language in a UK context.
The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post and applications are welcome in English and Welsh.
This is initially a full time, one year fixed term contract, but with the potential to extend thecontract in line with funding opportunities. Although based at Woodland House in Cardiff, this post has scope for flexible and remote working and we would welcome applications from across Wales.
