Since carrying out the UK’s first successful heart transplant in 1979, the hospital now performs more heart, heart-lung and lung transplants each year than any other UK centre.

In addition to transplantation, Royal Papworth Hospital has the UK’s largest Respiratory Support and Sleep Centre (RSSC) and is one of five UK centres providing Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) to patients experiencing severe respiratory failure. It is also the only centre in the UK for a number of specialist services including Pulmonary Endarterectomy and Balloon Pulmonary Angioplasty (BPA).

Cardiothoracic Surgical Care Practitioner (SCP) 

Full Time (37.5 hours per week) + on-call

AFC Band 7 - £38,890 - £44,503 

As the largest and leading specialist cardiothoracic hospital in the UK, Royal Papworth Hospital is dedicated to providing patients with the best possible care through the excellence of our caring staff.

This is an exciting time for Papworth having moved to the new state of the art, purpose built hospital on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus in April 2019. The move to this site allows Papworth hospital to work alongside some of the world’s leading healthcare companies and organisations including Cambridge University Hospitals, giving our patients immediate access to a range of services and also expanding opportunities in terms of research and education.

We’re looking for Qualified Cardiothoracic SCP’s to join our expanding team. You will be skilled in harvesting conduit as well as first and second assisting, whilst also participating in aspects of pre, peri and post-operative care of the patient under the direction of the Consultant Surgeons.
