Job Description

Post Title: Health Care Support Worker

Department: Abbey Ward

Location: Hallam Street Hospital

Directorate: Mental Health Urgent Care (Sandwell)

Band: 2

Hours: 37.5

Contract Type: Permanent

Responsible to: Ward Manager

We are looking for new, staff who want to me a difference who are committed and have positive values to make a difference to the lives of people in hospitals to join our teams and work with older adults with Mental Health needs.

Duties include but are not limited to the following-observing, supervising and providing ongoing support to clients with varying levels of Mental Health issues. Candidates must be confident and have the ability to keep a calm head in potentially difficult situations.

Candidates will observe patients and communicate to the Nurse in Charge any particular needs of patients and/or problems in the ward. Supporting clients with Mental Health problems following care and/or support plans for each service user with respect and dignity. Successful applicants must

  • Be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the UK
  • Be willing to undertake a DBS Check, this only applies to candidates who don't have a Portable DBS.
  • Be able to provide satisfactory references for the past 5 years including any gaps in employment.
  • Preferably have Experience of supporting people who display challenging behaviour.
