University Hospitals of Leicester
Glenfield Hospital Vascular Surgery Ward
Glenfield Hospital, Leicester
£24,907 - £30,615 per annum, pro rata

Ward 23, Glenfield Hospital

Vascular Surgery and Vascular Admissions Unit

Staff Nurse positions available with Support and Development as appropriate.

A number of opportunities have arisen for Registered Nurses to join our team at Glenfield Hospital working as a Staff Nurse in the Vascular Surgery Specialty. An interest in the specialty is essential, however all training including a full induction will be provided therefore prior experience is desirable but not essential.

Ward 23 is a newly purpose built ward to accommodate Vascular Surgery patients and Vascular Admissions on the Glenfield Site. The ward has been built and furnished to the latest specification with the specific needs of this patient group in mind. We therefore care for a mix of emergency and elective patients. You will gain experience of caring for patients that have had surgery such as amputation, bypass surgery, aneurysm repair and diabetic foot surgery. You will develop a good knowledge of vascular surgery and will gain skills in complex wound management including VAC therapy.

We have a supportive team of staff and will provide a period of induction and orientation to the area. We are looking for a nurse that enjoys giving high standards of individualised nursing care, that is dynamic and is seeking an opportunity to develop new skills.

Our Ward supports a number of advanced practice initiatives such as educating Trainee Associate Practitioners, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Nursing Associates and is consistently evaluated very highly by learners.

Vascular Surgery is part of the wider Renal, Respiratory, Cardiac and Vascular management group (RRCV). Glenfield Hospital (GH), is RRCV’s main administrative site and is located approximately three miles from Leicester City Centre on a spacious campus. This site will eventually be the hub of all specialty acute services in Leicester.

The campus has its own emergency ambulance bay and helipad, modern specialty theatres and intensive care units are also based on this site. GH campus is a regional centre for clinical research with both Respiratory and Cardiac Biomedical research units based here and has close links with both the University of Leicester and DeMontfort University.
