Pharmacy Technician

24.25 Hours per week - 4 days per week (10am - 4:30pm)

We are the largest provider of acute hospital services in Surrey, serving a population of more than 410,000 people in the boroughs of Runnymede, Spelthorne, Woking and parts of Elmbridge, Hounslow, Surrey Heath and beyond.

The Trust provides a whole range of services across its two main hospital sites in Surrey - Ashford Hospital, and St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey and supported by specialist clinics in the community.


An exciting opportunity has arisen for band 4 to 5 pharmacy technician within our friendly department at Ashford & St Peters NHS Foundation Trust.

If you have the ability to work using your own initiative, have good communication skills and can provide a high quality service to our patients this is the job for you!

You will require great communication & interpersonal skills, as you will be working within a multi-professional environment across the Trust.

We are looking for an individual with a passion for customer service and team work that is able to work under pressure whilst ensuring a high level of accuracy.

The successful candidate will work between the dispensary and medicine management services and will either have or be willing to work towards Accredited Checking Technician and Medicines Optimisation Programme qualifications. Starting grade will depend on experience and qualification but this is a progression post so full support and training will be provided to move towards a senior pharmacy technician position.

Our department is committed to Education and Training and you will be encouraged to develop your skills in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice in our busy department and provide support to others in training.


The Pharmacy team comprises of over 80 staff and we provide a comprehensive range of services to all Trust wards and departments, community hospitals, Hospices, and an onsite private hospital. You can expect to be involved in all aspects of the pharmacy service both within the main pharmacy and out on the wards on site and at Ashford and community hospitals.

For this role you will need to be a pharmacy technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and have a BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science (or equivalent) and a NVQ level 3 qualification in pharmacy. Hospital experience would be desirable but not essential.
