Professional and Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapist

1.0 WTE

Banding: 8b

Two year fixed-term contract

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced SLT to provide strategic and professional leadership across the Speech and Language Therapy services for St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, working with the clinical lead SLTs to plan, implement service development and support service delivery of highly specialist, evidence based care across the Trust. Services to be managed include:

Head & Neck Cancer – WTE 0.6 8a, 3.6 SLTs, 0.3 SLTA

Voice Disorders (across St George’s Hospital and St John’s Therapy Centre) – WTE 0.6 8a, 0.8 SLTs, 0.3 SLTA

Acute & Senior health – WTE 0.6 8a, 5.8 SLTs, 0.3 SLTA

Neurosciences - WTE 0.6 8a, 8.9 SLTs, 1.1 SLTA

Neurorehabilitation (The Wolfson, inpatient and outpatient services, across St George’s Hospital and Queen Mary’s Hospital, Roehampton) – WTE 0.8 8a, 6.6 SLTs, 1.0 SLT

You will also offer professional support to local Community (based at Queen Mary’s Hospital and St John’s Therapy Centre) and Paediatric SLT Services. Cross site working is essential.

Key duties include having oversight of clinical governance for SLT services, demonstrating up-to-date knowledge of current national policies and agendas, including RCSLT professional practice, HCPC guidance and research priorities and embedding these within the service. The post holder will also have direct responsibility for the Instrumental Dysphagia services, including videofluoroscopy clinics at St Georges and Queen Mary’s Hospitals and the FEES clinics at St Georges Hospital, together with support from the clinical lead SLTs.

The post holder will represent the SLT service at Trust Governance, Care Group and Board meetings and demonstrate skills in dealing with high level information, challenging situations and complex issues to ensure safe and reliable SLT service delivery within the Trust

The post holder will be supported with continuing professional development and as part of a motivated and progressive department within a large teaching Trust. There will be the opportunity to access training, lead on quality improvement initiatives and implement Trust and NHS wide strategy.

The post holder will report to and be supported by the Chief Therapist and AHP Lead, and have strong links with the Therapies Management
