We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-organised person, who relates well to children, to work under the supervision of Speech and Language Therapists in Preschool Complex Needs and Special Schools in the Crawley and Horsham areas. Previous experience of working with children additional needs in school settings is essential.

Full training will be given, but the post holder must be able to self-reflect in order to develop and maintain competency to practice through continuing professional development. They must be a good communicator and willing to work flexibly as part of a team. Practicality and the ability to solve problems on the spot would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will join a team of Speech and Language Therapy Assistants across our Central locality (the Crawley, Horsham and Mid Sussex areas of West Sussex).

The post holder will be required to:

  • Make materials to be used in therapy
  • Make IT-based resources, e.g. communication passports
  • File, arrange venues and set up training and/or clinic rooms
  • Clean therapy equipment in accordance with SCFT's Infection Control Policy
  • Assist in group work with children
  • Work with individual children under the guidance of a therapist
  • Use electronic notes to write up therapy notes
  • Demonstrate therapy to school, setting staff and or parents face to face
  • Demonstrate therapy to school, setting staff and or parents virtually
  • Attend and participate in team meetings
  • Organise training sessions for school staff
