An exciting opportunity has arisen within Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT) for a full time Named Nurse for Looked After Children based in the West Sussex area. You will offer high quality advice and expertise in regard to Looked After Children services in order to support our Trust-wide staff and our partner agencies. You will need to have a commitment and passion to deliver high quality evidence-based care and support for this vulnerable group of children and young people, including unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.

The role is a high profile and essential position within SCFT requiring a close and effective working relationship with the Named Nurse for Looked After Children in Brighton and Hove. It involves positive leadership for the population of Looked After Children and young people in West Sussex. You will also work closely with Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children and the Lead Nurse for the Children’s Sexual Abuse Referral Centre (SARC).

An important aspect of this post is to work in partnership with the Designated Nurse (LAC) within the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to ensure that statutory health assessment rates within West Sussex meet the targets set by Department of Health and the Department for Education. The Named Nurse will support the development of service initiatives and programmes for supporting Looked After Children both in and beyond the boundaries of West Sussex as the Integrated Care Service develops across the area.
