We have an exciting opportunity to join the Paediatric outpatient department at the Royal Brompton Hospital and Harefield hospital as a Paediatric Senior Staff Nurse.

 

  • The post will be permanent

 

  • Full time - Monday to Friday but with plans to provide a 6 day service as required

The children outpatient’s department at RBH is a dynamic and busy environment seeing children with respiratory and cardiac conditions. We are looking for a professional role model to lead and co-ordinate the Paediatric outpatient team. You will be responsible and accountable for the management and organisation of the paediatric outpatient department (POPD). You will manage the delivery of care to children with congenital and acquired heart diseases plus chronic and acute respiratory disease and their families whilst in the outpatient department. The team also consists of an Associate Practitioner, play assistant, Health Care Assistant as well as receptionists. The children come from long distances to receive specialist care for their heart or lung disease, needing compassion and understanding. Clinics are supported by a multidisciplinary team including clinical nurse specialists. Due to COVID-19 the department is continuing to adapt to meet the changing demands of patient and staff safety.

 

We are ideally looking for a children’s nurse with some previous experience of caring for children with cardiac and / or respiratory disease and an understanding of the impact of chronic disease. We expect a commitment to developing the service and support nursing research. There are excellent opportunities for further education.
