Team Leader Advertisement

Harborne Medical Practice is a lively, modern and well established teaching practice in the centre of Harborne. As well as excellent general practice and nursing provision, our services also include hub, physiotherapy, phlebotomy and minor surgery along with specialist clinics for conditions such as asthma and diabetes, to name but a few. We have a fantastic family-friendly staff team consisting of 6 partners, 3 salaried GP’s, 20 administrative, secretarial and nursing staff and have approximately 13,000 patients on our list. Our lovely practice has recently expanded, with the addition of 8 clinical spaces and an IT suite and the practice can now offer 20 clinical rooms. We are known for our modern, progressive approach to both the provision of patient care and support for our staff team. We see ourselves as highly innovative, taking great pride in everything we do and are rated ‘Good’ by CQC.

To enable our practice to grow and develop, we are looking for the following person to join our management team:

Team Leader contracted for 37.5 hours per week. Working days and times are flexible and can be negotiated. The FTE salary range is from £20,980 to £25,350 for 37.5 hours

The purpose of the role is to:

As part of the Performance Team, assist the Business Manager in the smooth and efficient running of the practice, ensuring compliance with legal and contractual obligations

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Business Manager in the efficient running of the practice.
  • Provide excellent first line management and offer leadership to the staff team.
  • Ensure the provision of a high quality support service to the Business Manger without direct supervision, working within procedural guidelines
  • Be responsible for key areas of the practice.
  • Ensure that the practice provides quality care for patients and demonstrates a high regard for staff welfare.
  • Monitor compliance with practice policies, supporting staff to work in a healthy and safe manner.
  • Improve and maintain standards across a wide range of clinical and administrative activities.

Amongst other things, we are looking for someone who has:

  • Good standard of general education, including English and Math
  • Administration / IT qualification, such as NVQ 3, City & Guilds 2, CLAIT
  • GCSE English level C and above
  • GCSE Math level C and above
  • Team Leader / Management qualification or willing to train in 1 year

You will need experience of:

  • All aspects of people leadership, including supervision and performance management.
  • Undertaking a wide range of administrative duties using various software packages, including excel.
  • Demonstrating compliance with good governance.
  • Monitoring compliance with contractual obligations and taking remedial action.

The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator and organiser, pays attention to detail and can keep to deadlines. We are ideally seeking a person who has worked in general practice using the EMIS system and has experience of the Work Flow process. The right person will also have excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, is flexible and adaptable and self-motivated.
