As of 1st April 2020 Herefordshire Mental Health and Learning Disability Services will be transferring to Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust. This change will be reflected in any correspondence you receive relating to an offer of employment.

We serve a population of 189,000 spread across 850 square miles of Herefordshire. We offer a wide range of in-patient and community mental health services covering all ages including Child & Adolescent Mental Health, Perinatal, Working Age and Older People Services. In the most recent CQC inspection the organisation retained its overall rating of good amongst which several services were rated as outstanding.

Herefordshire Mental Health & Learning Disability services employ approximately 400 staff currently.

Recent service developments have included perinatal mental health, personality disorder/complex trauma, liaison & diversion services and Individual Placement and Support Services. We are an innovative forward looking organisation keen to work with people in our aim to improve outcomes for people with mental health and learning disabilities of all ages.


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled, motivated and passionate Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) to join the Therapies Team at the Stonebow Unit.

The Stonebow Unit is a mental health in-patient facility for working age adults and older adults with functional and organic conditions.

You will work as part of a dedicated in-patient multi-disciplinary team under the supervision of the Occupational Therapists to provide occupational therapy interventions for an identified OTA caseload.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, energy enthusiasm and an understanding of how to work alongside an individual to promote independence.

Candidates will have undertaken a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in care and should be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of working with people with a mental health condition.

Patients will be supported to access their local community from hospital as part of discharge preparation and a valid UK driving licence is essential.

The successful candidate will be supported to develop their knowledge and skills with equipment provision, using the Model of Human Occupation and implementing occupationally focussed care and intervention plans.

Regular supervision, reflective practise and training opportunities will be actively encouraged.
