Are you currently a Band 5 Paediatric nurse working within PICU/HDU? or a Band 6 Paediatric nurse looking for new challenges or experiences in your nursing career?

If you have experience within PCCU, hold a Critical/Intensive Care qualification and hold a mentorship qualification or have significant evidence of mentorship in practice, then the Band 6 role is relevant to you.

As a Band 6 within our nursing team, you will need enthusiasm, motivation and a continuing commitment to clinical practice and the delivery of excellent nursing care.

In addition you will experience and develop your leadership skills within a busy unit, also learn more about PCCU's role within Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust. You will demonstrate a willingness to lead agreed projects related to practice and professional development. Successful candidates can expect educational support in their own development as an experienced Critical Care nurse. We have a bespoke education programme delivered by a dedicated PCCU team, which can be tailored to the individuals knowledge, skills and experience.

An experience in extended therapies such as CVVH, HFOV and Nitric Oxide is desirable, although support is given/updated where necessary. Cannulation, venepuncture and other extended roles are an advantage.

The Band 6 Nurse will be expected to contribute to the educational needs of new starters, critical care course students and pre-registration student nurses. In addition the Band 6 Nurse will provide support for Senior staff on a daily basis.

The Band 6 role within PCCU is an excellent development role and will enable you to progress to team leading within HDU and overall shift coordination, under Band 7 supervision.

The Children's Hospital in Sheffield is one of only four stand alone Children's Hospitals in the UK, and we are also a regional Major Trauma site, incorporating expert Neurosurgical, Neuroscience and Orthopaedic departments. A good understanding and undertaking of Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust Values is essential to this role.

Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust has very close links with both City Universities and have recently been instrumental in setting up and facilitating an Advanced Nurse Practitioner course with Sheffield University. The Trust also hosts Embrace Infant & Paediatric Transport service, which PCCU works closely with.

In line with other NHS Organisations in the Yorkshire and Humber Region a successful candidate appointed into a post within this Trust will be required to pay the DBS check fee (£45). This is customarily payable over 4 months as a salary deduction once employed by the Trust. If you receive a conditional offer letter, complete your DBS application and later withdraw from the recruitment process, an invoice will be raised via the Trust's finance department to recoup the outlay.
