We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-organised person who relates well to children to step into a new and exciting role within our pre school complex needs team. There are opportunities to work under the supervision of Speech and Language Therapists in family homes, special schools and preschool settings in the Mid Sussex, Crawley and Horsham area. There may also be a requirement to work in Early Years clinical settings according to need. Previous experience of working with children with young children with complex needs and within a paediatric speech and language therapy service is essential.

The successful candidate will be required to be involved in:

  • Carrying out assessments under the guidance of a therapist
  • Running group interventions with the B3 SALTA, students and therapists
  • Working with individual children providing therapy and updating intervention plans
  • Providing Supervision to B3 Speech and Language therapy assistants (SALTA)
  • Representing the service at multidisciplinary assessments and meetings
  • Organising and delivering training sessions for pre-school and nursery staff
  • Making materials to be used in therapy
  • Making IT-based resources, e.g. communication passports
  • Filing, and setting up therapy rooms
  • Cleaning therapy equipment in accordance with SCFT's Infection Control Policy

Additional training will be given, but the candidate must be able to self-reflect in order to develop and maintain competency to practice through continuing professional development. The candidate must be a good communicator and willing to work as part of a team.
