A vacancy has arisen for the position of Pre-Analytical Supervisor in the busy Reception & Data Input areas of the combined Haematology and Biochemistry departments (Blood Sciences) within Pathology at University Hospitals of Leicester. The role will require the candidate to work at all three UHL sites of the LRI, GGH, and LGH.

This is not a Biomedical Scientist training post and therefore not a ideal position for trainee biomedical scientists.

Providing support for the smooth running of the laboratory, your duties will include:
Receipt of Pathology samples prior to analysis which involves manual handling.

Inputting of data from patient request forms onto the system.

Dealing with patient result enquiries via the telephone.

The post will also involve a number of general administration and housekeeping duties.

There is also an element of manual dexterity required in this role
Supervisory responsibilities of staff.

Training for all other team members for all duties in Specimen Reception
Some basic laboratory duties.

The Pathology Laboratory is open 24/7 including nightshifts and weekend working and you will be contracted to work shifts within this period. You will be required to work on 24/7 contract including weekends and nights.

The successful applicant will be educated to GCSE level or have equivalent experience, have an excellent telephone manner and possess good keyboard skills with previous experience involving a keen attention to detail.

Highly organised and conscientious, you have the ability to plan and organise your own work, and to adapt flexibly when circumstances change. A dedicated team member, you will bring a pleasant and helpful approach to your dealings with patients, visitors and staff, both face-to-face and on the telephone.
