An opportunity has arisen to join the Clinical Pharmacy Team at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for a keen and committed technician with excellent communication skills to join our team.

Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is one of four dedicated children’s hospital trusts in the UK. We provide healthcare for children & young people from the local population in Sheffield & South Yorkshire, as well as specialised services to children & young people nationally. The trust has undergone an exciting major re-development and modernisation with the recent opening of fantastic new ward facilities in a brand new wing.

The Pharmacy department provides a progressive pharmacy service to the variety of patients visiting the Trust, making it a highly rewarding working environment.

We have an excellent opportunity within our friendly department for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Medicines Management Technician to join our team.

The role will involve contributing to an accurate and efficient pharmacy service within the Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust by participating in and contributing to the ward-based Medicines Management service. This will include assessment of patients' medication histories, availability and suitability of patients' own medicines, participation in the discharge planning process and provision of specific medication information within the clinical pharmacy team.

It is essential that you are registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC and are an Accredited Accuracy Checking Technician.

Previous experience within a hospital environment is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.

If you have excellent communication skills, are keen to develop patient focused strategies within the specialist area of Paediatric Pharmacy and are able to work well within a team or independently; then this is the job for you.

If a DBS check is required for the post you are applying for any offer of employment will be provisional on a satisfactory DBS check being obtained.

In line with other NHS Organisations in the Yorkshire and Humber Region a successful candidate appointed into a post within this Trust will be required to pay the DBS check fee (£45). This is customarily payable over 4 months as a salary deduction once employed by the Trust. If you receive a conditional offer letter, complete your DBS application and later withdraw from the recruitment process, an invoice will be raised via the Trust's finance department to recoup the outlay.
