In 2002 Inclusion was created as part of the award winning South Staffordshire & Shropshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, now known as Midlands Partnership Foundation NHS Trust. Successful in its endeavors, Inclusion has grown to provide drug and alcohol and sexual health, mental health services in the community, and prisons. Employing over 750 staff, including Psychiatrists, Counsellors, Doctors, Nurses, Social Workers, Allied Health Professionals,Therapists, Drug & Alcohol Recovery Workers, Peer Mentors and Volunteers. We provide services to in excess of 19,000 services users per annum across the South East, Midlands, East of England and North of England.

The Inclusion Directorate within Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust provides Integrated Mental Health and Psychosocial Substance Misuse teams into 12 prisons across Staffordshire, Worcestershire and Oxfordshire.

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to work as part of the Integrated Team at HMP Drake Hall Women’s Prison.

The successful applicant will be supported by the Team Manager and will be a key member of the multi-disciplinary team consisting of Consultant Psychiatrist, Psychologist and Assistant Psychologist, RMNS, Psychosocial Recovery Workers , Social Worker and Healthcare Support Worker.

Assessment and interventions are delivered within the framework of a stepped care model. The Care Programme Approach is utilized for the coordination of Secondary Care.

The age range of the service user group is 18 years +. The women within our Service have a range of complex needs and associated multiple disadvantage which can impact significantly on presentation. Previous experience of working within Women’s Mental Health Services and /or a trauma informed environment would be an advantage.

The role provides opportunity for both group and one to one work and there is an expectation that the successful applicant would take a lead role in developing and shaping the Occupational Therapy provision within the team.

As a Senior Occupational Therapist you will also need to be confident in managing a caseload of individuals with complex mental health difficulties and to be able to offer supervision, support and guidance to junior members of the team. Knowledge of sensory and emotional regulation interventions would be of benefit.

The post holder will have access to monthly OT peer supervision with peers working across other prisons, and will be supported by experienced OTs to develop the role.
