We have a unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced and ambitious communications and engagement manager to join our specialist research communications team at one of the largest acute trusts in the country. We run over 1,000 clinical trials at any one time, recruiting circa 13,000 participants every year.

You will play a lead role in developing and managing an integrated communications and engagement strategy for our new National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Patient Recruitment Centre (PRC), giving our patients more opportunities to take part in late phase commercial clinical trials.

You will have strong media relations skills, excellent writing ability and experience of delivering high-quality communications with an impact for different audiences, which may include the life sciences industry and patient groups. You will have a good understanding of digital communications and the ability to develop relationships and work across our partner organisations.

Reporting to the Head of Research Communications, you will enjoy both working as part of a team and using your initiative, developing new ideas, and managing your own workload. NHS, NIHR and/or research experience is desirable but not essential. However you should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the health and social care research environment so we can deliver creative communications and engagement with an impact.
