We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Nurse to join our team of nurses in shaping the future of children’s hospital services in Leicester.

As part of the reconfiguration of acute services in Leicester a dedicated Children’s Hospital is being developed on the Leicester Royal Infirmary site. This will bring together all paediatric intensive care, paediatric ECMO (extra corporeal membrane oxygenation) and high dependency facilities to support the general and specialist paediatric services that we provide to our local, regional and national populations. Alongside our existing senior nurse team you will have a unique opportunity to influence the models of care and workforce planning for future generations of paediatric patients and nurses in Leicester.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic motivated and experienced Nurse Leader to join the Senior Nursing team within the Childrens Hospital at UHL The applicant must be able to demonstrate good evidence of leadership, change management and be able to deliver transformational projects in line with the operational demands of the CMG.

The Deputy Head of Nursing will be assigned specific projects. They will be responsible for the performance management of key performance indicators related to the nursing contribution to service delivery within the CMG

Supported by the Head of Nursing you will be able to demonstrate professional ability, innovative thinking and be able to articulate a clear vision for future Patient care .

This role will also take part in Trust "silver" on call nursing Rota, ( approx 6-7 Weekend days per year)

Key elements of the role relate to:

Providing clear and visible leadership to patients and staff.

To be responsible for agreeing, monitoring and implementing standards of clinical and non clinical care ensuring that the highest standards are continually met.

Lead and participate in developments that enhance the patient / carer experience.

Be responsible for specific projects which will include workforce planning, effective recruitment and retention processes.

Implicit within the post is the need to prioritise, and lead a diverse team. You will be expected to establish and maintain close liaison with other team members working within CMG for the overriding objective of maintaining and improving an efficient and a high quality progressive service.
