Domestic Assistant, Leighton Hospital

3 fixed term posts, full time, 37.5 hours per week

2 x 8am – 4pm

1 x 2pm – 10pm 

Hospital domestic services staff make sure our hospitals are clean, comfortable places.
Domestic/cleaning work in a hospital is very different to other domestic jobs.

Domestic assistants, or cleaners, work in wards and other areas of a hospital as part of the cleaning team. They have a lot of contact with patients, and their family/visitors, so customer service is a large focus. We would expect you to use your customer service experience to help make patients’ hospital visits more pleasant.

No qualifications are usually needed to be a domestic assistant, but you need to be aware of hygiene issues, be discrete, be able to respect patients' rights to privacy and dignity, have a pleasant manner and work meticulously. We'll need you to be reliable, flexible, and a good team player.  

It's even better if you have a proven track record of being able to deliver a high quality domestic service.
